Station information
On air is Downtempo from Radio Caprice, a Russian online station dedicated to slow and thoughtful electronic music. The format centers on downtempo and downbeat, with broken rhythms, soft basslines, and a calm but clearly defined groove. The sound sits between trip-hop, ambient, and chilled electronic styles, built for immersive listening rather than dancefloor pressure. Downtempo emerged in the late 1980s and 1990s from chill-out spaces and after-hours club culture, with roots in Ibiza sunsets and the Bristol trip-hop scene. The music relies on syncopation, polyrhythms, and loop-based structures that create a subtle hypnotic effect. Less dark than trip-hop and more rhythmic than ambient, the style evolved through artists like Kruder and Dorfmeister, Fila Brazillia, and Thievery Corporation, shaping a melodic, relaxed electronic language that still defines the genre today.
