Station information
Dark Folk on Radio Caprice explores the shadowed side of modern folk. Broadcasting from Russia, the station focuses on neofolk and related acoustic dark ambient traditions where fragile melodies meet post-punk mood, ritual atmospheres and minimalist arrangements. The playlist moves between intimate acoustic pieces, martial rhythms and meditative, often melancholic compositions. The style grew in Europe as a reinterpretation of American folk of the 1970s, gradually merging with post-punk and alternative music. Artists such as Death in June, Current 93 and Sol Invictus shaped the early sound, combining acoustic guitars, folk instruments and occasional electronics. By the late 1990s the scene expanded, blending folk textures with trip-hop and experimental elements, eventually branching into directions like apocalyptic folk, ritual folk and new weird folk.
